God rejects worldly government and provides His King to rule over His people. “Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” 1 Samuel 16:1 God has rejected Saul as king, but he is still sitting on the throne as king. God rejects government leaders because they close-out God, reject the need for Jesus Christ, and are a grievance to the Holy Spirit. Today, those who rule over this world are rejected by God because they exist through the global government of the beast. God has a replacement for this world’s government and His name is Jesus Christ. Filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit, Samuel is sent to Jesse to select one of his sons as the new king. David is the son of Jesse who is chosen to be the new king. Jesus Christ is born from the lineage of king David, the coming King who defeats the global government of the mark of the beast. “…and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.” Matthew 1:6
God’s Kingdom is not of this world but comes through Jesus Christ. “And Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me.” But the Lord said, “Take a heifer with you, and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’ ” 1 Samuel 16:2 The last thing that those who govern by the mark of the beast want to hear is that we are looking for the coming of a new world leader. That leader is Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus, we have no concern about toppling the leaders of the global government of the beast, we are here only to offer ourselves to Jesus, the King of our soul. “Then invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; you shall anoint for Me the one I name to you.” 1 Samuel 16:3 Jesse is the father of David, and David is whom God has anointed as the king over Israel. That is symbolic of Jesus Christ being the one whom God has anointed to be the King of our soul. The Kingdom of God is not of this world, “Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” John 18:36
Jesus Christ comes peaceably as the Lamb of God. “So Samuel did what the Lord said, and went to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, “Do you come peaceably?” 1 Samuel 16:4 Jesus Christ was born in the little town of Bethlehem, which brought much trembling and fear to the worldly kings. So much fear that one king slaughtered infants in an attempt to murder the infant Jesus, “Then Herod…sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under,” Matthew 2:16 Jesus Christ came peaceably and is no military threat whatsoever to the rulers of this world. Even so, those who live and govern by the mark of the beast want Jesus Christ eliminated from this world.
“And he said, “Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons, and invited them to the sacrifice.” 1 Samuel 16:5 We sacrifice ourselves to God through Jesus Christ and even set ourselves apart from the affairs of this world. That is our consecration and sanctification, which keeps us far from rebel violence against world powers. In our consecration, we are invited to fellowship with the Spirit of God within the sanctuary of our soul.
The chosen One is of the Spirit of God, not worldly power. “So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, “Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him!” 1 Samuel 16:6 Samuel thought he had found the chosen king because of physical attributes, but God’s King, Jesus, doesn’t come with physical might, “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6 No flesh should be glorified in the presence of God, “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 God rejects flesh and blood attributes and looks into our soul, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Corinthians 1:27-29
“So Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.” Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, “Neither has the Lord chosen this one.” Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen these.” Jesus Christ is not found if someone is looking for Him within the attributes of flesh and blood. The thing that has power over physiology is able to build up fleshy attributes beyond human comprehension. It enables amazing physical feats, gives uncanny knowledge, provides heightened intuition, gives astonishing appearances of youth and health, etc. But none of those fleshly attributes allow room for God and Jesus Christ into their heart. They live by the mark of the beast. Those are the people the leaders of today’s society choose, but God chooses people who live by the Spirit of Christ.
The chosen One of God is a Shepherd not a soldier. “And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” 1 Samuel 16:11 The youngest, and least likely to be king by physical standards, would be the king of Israel. He was a sheepherder named David. Jesus Christ was the youngest and last of the great prophets and kings of Israel. Instead of an army He had twelve Apostles, instead of riding on a stallion He rode on a donkey, and instead of associating with the powerful and influential He called Himself the Good Shepherd.
He came to conquer sin and death not to overthrow governments of this world. The Jewish nation was waiting for His coming, but when He came, they rejected Him as the Messiah. Today, we followers of Jesus Christ are standing and waiting for Him to come back, and we see events preparing for His coming. The global government is here and so is the mark of the beast. Revelation 17 also talks about the formation of the global government. Global warming is also here, which plays a role in plunging the power center of the mark of the beast into darkness, Revelation 16:8-10.
The chosen One is anointed with the Spirit of God. “So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!” 1 Samuel 16:12 David was a teen-ager when God chose him to be king over Israel and he sat on the throne about fourteen years later at the age of 30. I think of Jesus as a boy at the age of twelve who said to His parents, “And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:49 At the young age of twelve, it was obvious Jesus had been anointed as the chosen one of God. Like king David who began his rule at the age of thirty, that is the age at which Jesus began His ministry.
“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.” 1 Samuel 16:13 The oil represents the Holy Spirit, and from a teenager the Spirit of the Lord came upon David. The Holy Spirit is not the spirit of a warrior but the Spirit of a dove, which came upon Jesus, “And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” Luke 3:22
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
