Don’t worry about basic human needs, life is more than that. Today, anyone who lives for Jesus are His disciples, so He has a lot to say directly to us, “Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on.” Luke 12:22 The system of government we live in today wants us to worry about those things, in fact those things are used to pressure us to conform to mainstream society. Their whole mode of operating is by humanism empowered by the mark of the beast, meaning human needs take priority over the need for Jesus Christ. In fact, they afflict the Spirit of Christ to make their physical comforts desired. Jesus doesn’t support this present system of government, as He says, “Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.” Luke 12:23
Don’t worry about financial savings, you are worth more than that. I was homeless for over a year, and as I saw myself heading in that direction, I maintained my determination to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Simply put, I refused to be the type of person that would have brought me money, possessions, and physical comforts. I was congenial to those I cared for as an STNA and I kept myself apart from my peers who thrived on a “party lifestyle.” I saw my material things passing away, I had to sell my old house trailer, sold my Ford Ranger, and my bank account drained. Not once did I think of conforming to those who govern by the mark of the beast. I had a deep conviction that even homelessness was better than being a cruel, self-centered, and pleasure-seeking person. Diving into the unknown, the essence of this verse is all my heart was feeling, “Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?” Luke 12:24 Everything I lack in this world will be more than made up for in the New Jerusalem.
Don’t worry about circumstances beyond your control. “And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” Luke 12:25 Worrying has never added anything good to my life, and it actually feeds into those who want to play savior in the spirit of humanism. They want to exchange worry for the mark of the beast. As followers of Jesus Christ, we will constantly find ourselves in situations where we can’t lift a finger to help ourselves, we are not able to do the least. This is part of the affliction of the people of God and the persecution will intensify as days progress, “If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?” Luke 12:26 There is no sense in worrying about things we can’t change. We can’t make the government of the mark of the beast go away, and we can’t make those who live by it go away. They even boast, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with it?” Revelation 13:4
Be clothed in Jesus Christ who gives us future glory. The important thing is not how clothed we are with possessions, money, social integration, and physical comforts, but how clothed we are in the Spirit of Christ. “Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Luke 12:27 Anyone who has ever lived on this earth doesn’t even compare to what we will be like in the New Jerusalem. Our life on this earth as mortal human beings comes and goes like withered grass, and then the judgment comes. Those living for the rewards of this world will be thrown into the burning lake of fire, but the followers of Christ will be clothed with the immortality of eternal life. “If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?” Luke 12:28
The global government seeks to fulfill human needs, but God gives us Heaven. The nations of the world seek after the basic needs of the human being, and they form a partnership with the global government of the mark of the beast. As Christians, we don’t chase after those things with the world, as Jesus says, “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.” Luke 12:29-30 We seek the kingdom of God, as Jesus tells us to, “But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” Luke 12:31 The kingdom of God is not found in materialism and physical comforts, but is found in the Holy Spirit, given to us by Jesus. A good place to start seeking is in the Bible, in our heart, and in our mind. Today, we are the faithful few who believe God and live for Jesus Christ, and we will inherit eternal life in the New Jerusalem. The broad way of mainstream society lives by the mark of the beast. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
Let go of earthly treasures and focus on Heavenly treasures. It’s easy for people to worry about giving up all of their money, possessions, and comforts to follow Jesus. It’s hard to grapple with committing to live for Jesus one day and putting yourself in poverty the next day. When we seek Jesus first, then His Spirit of Holiness will be added to us. That is when those who govern by the mark of the beast will start taking away your social integration, your employment standing begins to falter, and money begins to dwindle. A person will begin to sell their possessions for survival, begin to worry about tomorrow, and mental and physical comfort is taken away. As we hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ, we forego everything this world has to offer to have an eternal inheritance. That is a treasure we have in Heaven, and Jesus means every word, “Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.” Luke 12:33 If we love money, possessions, and physical comforts then our heart will be with the mark of the beast. If we love God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit then our heart will be with the treasures in Heaven. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
