Relying on numbers is a common thing to do. Numbers are what statistics are made of and determine the decisions that leaders make. They decide the majority and the minority. The number of people sitting in church pews on Sunday doesn’t indicate how many actually hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Church growth in recent years is attributed to the invasion of those who live by the inner presence of the mark of the beast. It’s not that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has failed, in fact it verifies what the Bible says, “It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander His name and His dwelling place and those who live in heaven. It was given power to wage war against God’s Holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation.” Revelation 13:6-7 Every tribe, people, language, and nation is a very large number that dominates polls and statistics everywhere.
“All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.” Revelation 13:8
Paul explains that it takes more than numbers to be considered a congregation of God’s people. Not everyone who is a descendent of Israel are actually Israel, and neither are they automatically Abraham’s children. Isaac is Abraham’s son who was offered up as a sacrifice to God, but God stopped that sacrifice and God offered up One of His own, His Son Jesus Christ. Through Him we are counted in the number of His congregation.
Filling in the “Ethnicity” code on a paper form really isn’t doing anything to determine where a person’s allegiance is. They quit asking about a person’s religion a long time ago, it’s not even a statistical factor. A person is Abraham’s offspring through belief in God, and God counts us righteous through Jesus Christ. The promise that God made is fulfilled as Jesus is accepted. Jesus Christ will return, and His children will be as innumerable as the stars in the skies, as He promised.
“It is not as though God’s word had failed.
For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.
Nor because they are His descendants are they all Abraham’s children.
On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”
In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children,
but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.
For this was how the promise was stated:
“At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
