The idea that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is very important to me nowadays. God accepts me as a flesh and blood person and wants me to be filled with the Spirit of Christ. His creation is flesh and blood, made in His image, and is not intended to be any other way. The inner presence of the mark of the beast eliminates humanness and ridicules His image. With its power over physiology and ability to form thoughts, emotions, and behaviors it has turned people into human robots. The idea of a flesh and blood being created in the image of God is mocked. It removes the plan of Salvation that comes through the Spirit of Christ. The Spirit of Christ makes us free from sin and death, but Satan works through the mark of the beast to enflame and multiply sin to cause death to God.
It is my reverence for God, acceptance of Christ for the atonement of sin, and living in the Holy Spirit that sets me free from sin and death. Often, I am exposed to thoughts, feelings, and emotions, that doesn’t fall in line with human decency and the Spirit of Jesus Christ. I recognize it as sin that would grieve the Holy Spirit and lead to spiritual death if I patterned my life after them. There have been times when I have dishonored my mom and dad, but to hear over and over again, “Thou shalt honor your mother and father,” is killing me. That one single law is continually torturing me because of how weak I was at that time. The flesh is weak. It’s not the law that is going to set me free, it is the Spirit of Christ that sets me free through grace. Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set me free from the law of sin and death.
Paul explains that there is a law of the Spirit who gives life. That law makes people free from the law of sin and death. In that light, no one is condemned for leaving the law of sin and death and choosing life through Jesus Christ. The law of the Old Testament never had the power to cleanse from sin, so God sent His Son Jesus Christ to cleanse us. The flesh is the weak link that can be used by sin, or it can be used by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Jesus was sent as a human, and in His humanness He never sinned. He was filled with the Spirit of God. His death on the Cross was to crucify the sin in our flesh which the law can never do. Jesus condemns the sin in the flesh so that the Spirit of Christ will live in us.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because
through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free
from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,
God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.
And so, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of
the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
